The RAIN® RFID management ear tag by HID Global, extends the traditional lowfrequency Animal Identification schemes with a new long-range UHF option. Such a tag enables livestock like cattle to be automatically counted and identified when walking through a reader gate or entering a feeding station. It allows identifying and counting animals in groups from a distance, reducing stress to the animals. Read/write capabilities allow storing additional information like vaccination or movement. Its construction was optimized by HID experts to optimally match the use case and allows a reading distance of up to 6.5m (21 ft) as well as its durability, which are among the highest in the market. The broadband design supports worldwide operation and reliable reading in any typical circumstances.

The reusable HID management tag is a standard product designed to work with any closure mechanism from Animal ID system integrators. The flexible and tough Thermoplastics Polyurethane (TPU) housing is highly waterproof (IP68 + IP 69K), resists aggressive liquids, bending and torsion, strong impact (IK08) and weather conditions (UV light). It’s large front surface supports laser engraving of bar codes, QR codes and text for additional optical identification to comply with legislations. With its fully automated manufacturing processes, own Asian certified production facility and in-house Swiss design services HID Global can support custom designs, encoding services and mass-production as needed.
